Kouta in Siam – EP (Digital Download)

“Kouta in Siam” was born during Salin’s trip to Thailand in 2022, while she was researching Thai indigenous and traditional music. With only a compact suitcase-style drum (the ‘Kouta’ drum) and a single microphone with her, Salin spontaneously perfrorms and records in unique locations along the way: a garden, the beach, sugarcane fields and others. Music was then composed on top of the recorded drums later in the studio.

Each track is a sonic exploration driven by unique Thai sounds discovered during Salin’s travels. Take a voyage through the dreamy vocal-scapes of a tribal villager in Bembe Beach and become enchanted by the energetic sound of the khene in Si Chomphu…
