Thai-born drummer and producer, Salin, is releasing her first funk and soul infused album entitled “Cosmic Island”.
From busking in the streets to working with JUNO-award-winning artist Dominique Fils-Aimé, Salin has been focused for the past few years on bringing her sonic vision to life and sharing it with the world.
ABOUT THE ALBUM
The proverbial “Cosmic Island” was conceived and inspired by two distinct land masses significant to Salin: the culturally diverse island of Montreal and our much larger ‘floating home’ within the Cosmos: planet Earth.
The album is laced with themes of personal reflection, environmental concerns and the current state of the world, all with the aim to give listeners an opportunity to reflect. The sound is a blend of R&B, Hip-Hop and Funk, bridging vintage sounds of the past with the energy and appeal of grooves of the present.
Through the creation of the album, Salin has brought together some of the city’s finest musicians, rappers and artists (Sarah MK, Clerel and Milla Thyme to name a few), supporting and elevating the art community of Montreal.
